Kendrick Lamar Pimpin Nominasi MTV VMA 2017, The Weeknd Menyusul

LOS ANGELES – Ajang penghargaan MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA) 2017 siap digelar. Selasa 25 Juli, MTV mengumumkan daftar penyanyi-penyanyi yang menjadi nominasi di VMA tahun ini.

Berdasarkan pengumuman tersebut, Kendrick Lamar memimpin dengan delapan nominasi. Rapper kelahiran 1987 ini dinominasikan untuk kategori Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Hip Hop, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, Best Visual Effects, dan Best Choreography.

Menyusul di bawah Lamar adalah Katy Perry dan The Weeknd yang masing-masing dinominasikan di lima kategori. Dua kategori yang mengusung The Weeknd, yakni Video of the Year dan Artist of the Year, membuatnya harus bertarung melawan Lamar dan nama-nama besar lainnya.

Sementara di sisi lain, MTV VMA 2017 akan dihelat di The Forum, Inglewood, California, AS, pada 27 Agustus 2017. Mulai dari tahun ini, tak akan ada kategori berdasarkan gender seperti Best Female atau Best Male. Semuanya digabungkan menjadi Artist of the Year.
