Senin 19 Juni 2017, daftar sementara nominasi Teen Choice Awards diumumkan oleh panitia dengan Dwayne Johnson sebagai yang paling banyak dinominasikan. Aktor berbadan kekar yang akrab disapa The Rock ini untuk sementara dinominasikan di tiga kategori film berbeda. Dwayne masuk di kategori Action Movie Actor untuk film Fate of the Furious, Fantasy Movie Actor berkat akting di Moana, dan Comedy Movie Actor lewat Baywatch. Selain Dwayne, ada Hailee Steinfeld yang juga masuk di tiga nominasi. Di bawah mereka berdua ada Emma Watson yang dinominasikan di dua kategori film, yakni Fantasy Movie Actress untuk Beauty and the Beast dan Drama Movie Actress lewat The Circle. Persaingan menarik terlihat di kategori Drama TV Actress. Dari enam nama yang masuk nominasi, lima diantaranya adalah pemain-pemain yang mewakili Pretty Little Liars.
